Ignited by the irresistible love of Jesus, we create opportunities to deepen faith, share stories, and care for God’s world.
St. Paul’s has an active group committed to reaching out to the world around us.
Our parish supports two key initiatives:
NEIGHBOUR 2 NEIGHBOUR
For over 30 years, a team of dedicated staff and volunteers at Neighbour 2 Neighbour Centre have been helping to improve our neighbourhood and meeting the issue of food insecurity head on. What started as a tiny food bank has evolved into an indispensable part of this community’s social fabric. Neighbour 2 Neighbour works to improve the quality of life in our community by offering access to tutoring programs for children, community kitchen programs, utility subsidy programs, family counselling, emergency food access and a host of other interventions. Neighbour 2 Neighbour is empowering people with the tools and ideas that will help change their lives.
ST. MATTHEW’S HOUSE
St. Matthew’s House (SMH) began in 1964 as a storefront ministry called The Compass to help residents of Hamilton’s north end. It formed as an outreach program of the Anglican Diocese of Niagara. It has now grown into a charitable, non-profit multi-service agency located on Barton Street between Victoria and Wentworth.
THE 412 PROJECT
St. Matthew’s House is currently building 15 housing units for low income seniors who are either indigenous or impacted by systemic discrimination from obtaining housing. St. Paul’s parish is supporting this project financially and with donations of kitchenwares to help equip these new units.
We also support efforts by the wider Christian community to be a vehicle of compassion and love to a suffering world:
